THE BOARD OF STEWARDS

Stewards are appointed by the Pastor and confirmed by the Quarterly Conference.

The stewards shall make an exact account of all money and other provisions collected for the support of the Church.

They shall establish along with the Pastor his/her salary and benefit package, commensurate with the cost of living in the given geographical area and the financial capacity of the local congregation.

They shall seek out the needy and distressed in order to relieve and comfort them.

They shall make accurate reports of every expenditure of money, whether to the pastor, church, sick or poor.

They shall register all baptisms, marriages, and deaths within the congregation.

They shall attend the Quarterly Conference.

They shall provide the implements and elements for the Holy Communion.

They shall survey the membership to determine the extent of each member's financial support, attendance of the regular means of grace, and support of the various benevolent enterprises of the church.

They shall investigate all members on the church roll and submit their findings as the Certified Membership Roll to the Official Board for approval.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The trustees shall manage all the temporal concerns of the church not otherwise provided for and shall have a treasurer elected by the Board.

They shall guard for the connection, all real estate, churches, parsonages, schools, and any other property obtained by the local church.

They shall make improvements upon the property or real estate when authorized to do so by a majority of the legal members of the church.

They shall secure, by purchase or hire, a house for the pastor’s family and also comfortably furnish it. In lieu of this arrangement, the pastor may be given a housing allowance. If a housing allowance is given, it is the Stewards’ duty to negotiate a reasonable housing allowance with the pastor.

They shall pay the moving expenses of the pastor and family from their previous assignment.
DEACONESS BOARD
The stewardesses are to assist the stewards in the discharge of their duties relative to the rituals of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. They are to provide the implements and elements of the Holy Communion and Holy Baptism. The stewardessess are to dress the pulpit and altar rail with suitable clean white coverings for these rituals.

The Deaconess Board shall be set apart and consecrated by the Bishop of the District after the selection by the Pastor and Official Board. The duties of the Deaconess are to encourage, foster and improve the general interests of the church; promote the comfort and solicit the friendship and sympathy of the general public; cheer the fallen; feed the hungry; clothe the naked; seek out the homeless; encourage thrift; visit mental health institutions and prisons; and save the lost.
