Rev. Dr. Ellen Canty McEachern - Assistant Pastor

Rev. Ellen Canty McEachern is the Assistant Pastor and First Lady of Macedonia AME Church, where she serves with her husband, the Rev. Dr. Richard O. McEachern. Rev. Ellen, as she is fondly known, is the advisor to the Grace E. Wares Women's Missionary Society and the Women's and Health Ministries of Macedonia. She is the Spiritual facilitator of "Led by the Spirit Ministry," a caring, sharing and spiritual support ministry.
Rev. Ellen earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at North Carolina A&T State University; she earned both a Master's Degree in Community Health Nursing and Public Health from Hunter College. She also holds a Post Graduate Certificate from Adelphi University as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. Rev. Ellen earned the Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care and Counseling from New Brunswick Theological Seminary. She is currently enrolled in the Pastoral Care/Counseling Doctor of Ministry Program at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Rev. Ellen is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority.
Rev. Ellen has traveled abroad with Rev. Jackie McCullough's World Alive Evangelistic and Medical Crusade Ministry to Jamaica, West Indies, providing both spiritual and nursing care. Under the leadership of Rev. Nicole Edness' Outreach Ministry she has ministered to the children of Mozambique and South Africa. Rev. Ellen has provided spiritual ministry to the Children's Orphanage of Iris Ministry.
Prior to being called into the ministry, Rev. Ellen worked as a registered nurse in many staff and supervisory nursing positions. Her nursing career spans over thirty years in areas of pediatric to geriatric patient care. Presently she works as a School Health Nurse for the Roosevelt School District.
Rev. Ellen and Rev. Richard are the proud parents of two adult children Nia Imani and Richard O. McEachern II. Rev. Ellen loves the Lord and diligently strives toward excelling in the spiritual gift of "servitude" while serving God's people with joy. The scripture that defines her ministry is found in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (KJV)
Rev. Days answered the call to ministry in the late 1990s and was ordained a Local Elder at the 2007 New York Annual Conference. She is an Associate Minister of Macedonia AME Church.
Rev. Days loves learning and teaching. She seriously embraces the admonition of Ephesians 4 to “Walk worthy of our calling…to equip the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ.” She often says, “An educated Christian is a stronger Christian,” and so she enthusiastically welcomes any assignment that allows her to participate in Christian Education.
Rev. Days teaches at the Macedonia Christian Institute, the Church School, the Women’s Fellowship, and various training workshops and seminars. She serves as an advisor to the HIV/AIDS ministry and is a member of the Woman-to-Woman Rites of Passage Steering Committee and the Marketing Ministry. She participates in the Greater Flushing MLK Day of Service Steering Committee and is active in the Woman-In-Ministry Commission of the AMEC New York Annual Conference.
Rev. Days is employed as an Information Technology Support Administrator with the St. Nicks Alliance, a not-for-profit organization that provides housing, healthcare, employment, education and economic empowerment services to the residents of Northeast Brooklyn and Queens.
Rev. Days is the proud mother of two adult children, Curri and Rashad.

Rev. Sharon Y. Grizzell - Associate Minister
Rev. Sharon Y. Grizzell joined Macedonia AME Church in December 2011. She has been saved since July 1980. She was licensed to handle and preach in May 1996 and ordained in 2005. Becoming a member of Macedonia has given her a greater sense of fulfillment as she works in the field of ministry especially since her recent retirement from the professional world.
She is willing to do whatever she can to help others find salvation in Jesus Christ. Her work in the ministry gives her enormous satisfaction in answering her call to encourage, enlighten and lift up ANYONE who has lost their way. She particularly loves working with the women as well as the Macedonia congregation as a whole.
Rev. Grizzell is the mother of one daughter, Adria.
